CORONAVIRUS PRECAUTIONS
A Message from Reverend Joe Marchio
In order to protect our church family, friends, and wider community, all church activities are now cancelled until further notice. This decision is consistent with the actions being taken by other churches and organizations within the immediate community.
While staff members will remain working during this time, the office will be closed and all church activities are cancelled. This includes Sunday worship, rehearsals of the Chancel and Carillon Handbell Choirs, Monday morning knitting group, Healing Service and Vacation Bible Camp. As many of you know I have never been a believer in canceling church. Years ago First Congregational was one of the only churches on Cape Cod that held worship during a massive winter storm. This situation, however, is not the same and requires a different response. At times churches are called to play the role of “prophet.” In other words we are called to set an example during times of crisis and need. By protecting ourselves we are protecting others and encouraging them to do the same. Taking these strong measures not only protects the well-being of our church, but also the wider world in which we are called to live. We will continue to monitor the situation and communicate any changes via email and this church website. Be well and stay healthy! Faithfully, Joe |
